A respected, super regional energy services and delivery company. In the Rochester area, Energy East's subsidiary, Utility Shared Services , provides information technology (IT) and procurement services to Energy East's electric and natural gas utility companies including: Rochester Gas and Electric, New York State Electric & Gas, Central Maine Power, Connecticut Natural Gas, Southern Connecticut Gas and Berkshire Gas. Rochester is the home of the Utility Shared Services IT organization with opportunities available in all areas of IT including: data center operations, network services, technical services, application services and IT support services.

Role of IT
As the sole provider of IT services for Energy East's five utilities, Utility Shared Services plays a vital role in the providing safe, reliable and essential energy delivery services to nearly 3 million customers across the Northeast.

The following core functions of the utility business are fully supported by Utility Shared Services - IT:

Customer Service: Information Technology is the primary foundation of efficient management of millions of customer relationships. Typical applications/systems include:

• Customer Care Systems
• Call Center Solutions
• Web Self Service

Operations: IT enables Energy East's utilities to efficiently and effectively manage the work and maintenance associated with the tens of thousands of miles of wires and pipes that make up the companies' electricity and natural gas delivery systems. Typical applications/systems include:

• Work Management
• Outage Analysis
• Electronic Meter Reading
• Mobile Data

Infrastructure Management: IT enables Energy East's utilities to proactively monitor, manage and control the flow of electricity and natural gas across New York, Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts. Typical applications/systems include:

• Energy Control
• GIS
• Engineering

Back Office: IT provides the base infrastructure enabling Energy East's utilities to perform the traditional "Back Office" functions necessary to run their business. Typical applications include:

• Accounting/Finance
• Human Resources
• Payroll
• Materials Management
